Cowcreek JR Cowhorse Bit ( Curved)
The JR Cowhorse bit is a great step up from an O Ring for young horses, re-schooling or going back to a softer bit with educated horses. It is designed to encourage a horse to break at the poll for a more natural collection and encourages lateral bend. The JR Cowhorse is a short gag bit often used to encourage elevation in the front end and to re-balance a horse before a jump or into the pocket on a barrel.
The curved mouthpiece and center barrel are made of stainless steel. The curve allows even pressure distribution across the tongue. The center barrel protects the tongue from being pinched in the center joint.
We like to adjust this bit to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers.
Fun Fact: In England this bit is known as a Tom Thumb and is predominantly used in showjumping and cross country as it is favored for its ability to encourage a horse to lift and round its frame
